QR codes

I've been following QR codes, new iQR codes and NFC technology very closely. It's been great to see the adoption and creative uses. My personal favorite creative was Jet Blue (link below). One KEY thing to note here, we're accessing the content from these QR codes on mobile devices most of the time. 98% of the time, when a QR code contains a URL (vs some other data like an SMS message), the end user experience I've witnessed is awful because they are linked to your standard web page that doesn't render on a mobile device. I'm seeing a lot of people getting swept up in a popular trend, but failing on the proper execution.

DON'T NEGLECT YOUR LANDING PAGE! Optimize it for mobile devices or don't do it at all. When dealing with 3rd screens, you have even less time to capture someone's attention. If they're stuck waiting for your bulky page to load, it doesn't matter how clever your use of QR codes is - it will crash and burn.
